book2net cobra has been designed in closecooperation with end-users for capturing sensible historical books and documents in the course of the Europeana project.

The Robotic Book Scanner 
Motorized v-shape glass plate with pressure sensors for an exceptionally gentle treatment of rare items.

  • Non-reflective glass and grinded miter joint inthe center to ensure best scanning results in the curve without dark areas. Museum glass is available as an option.
  • The movement of the glass is controlled byPLC (Programmable Logic Controller).
  • The pressure sensors of linear actuator can be adjusted to 8 different pressure levels.

High performance Book Scanning

  • Parallel use of two high performance CCD sensors with 40 Megapixel
  • High resolution of 400 ppi
  • 0.3 sek. scanning time / dualpage
  • 1.9 sek. processing time
  • Focus depth: 13 cm / 5 inch
  • Optimized signal to noise relation for OCR recognition
